How vote weights work
A counted position requires a verified phone and current verified residence. Payment never changes civic weight. Phone and tiered residence verification are available from the verification flow.
Government ID and Stripe Identity are not counting paths for new positions.
How mandates are calculated
Once at least 100 verified constituents participate and one side reaches 60%, that side becomes the citizen mandate. Below either minimum, Civitus publishes no Aligned or Defied verdict.
The production minimum in code is currently 100 verified constituents; there is no separate beta override.
How compliance scores work
A representative's compliance score is the share of mandated bills where their official vote matched the citizen mandate, calculated automatically from public roll-call records. Scores are rolled up automatically as qualifying official votes are recorded.
How Sage works
Sage is Civitus's AI analyst. It writes plain-language summaries of bills, court rulings, and executive actions from the official record. Every summary is labeled as AI analysis and links to its primary source. Sage is held to a charter: it never tells you how to vote, it stays nonpartisan, and it says so when the record is unclear.
